A Gear Manufacturing/Machining/Forging/Casting industry, Hi Tech Gears Ltd. is an auto component manufacturer (a Tier 1 supplier) of world class repute. It has been serving diverse clients across the globe for engine and transmission components produced to the most exacting standards. It is growing at an enormous pace as the world market place is getting more and more connected.
Why was ERP required?
The overall back office functioning of Hitech was computerized to an extent in some departments and people were aware of the software systems that had been implemented in their department. All these functions were running in isolation of each other and there was no significant integration amongst them. All other departments were performing their activities on manual systems, though they had computers but because of absence of any software they were only utilizing 20% of the capabilities of the computers.

The whole system is integrated in the O2 ERP, so there can be no ambiguity in data in different departments. The same data is available to all authorized departments from anywhere. There are various features of O2 like automatic purchase requisition, automatic creation of Excise and Accounts Ledgers, PulseT system and RevelationT and many more, helpful to analyzing and taking decision by Management.
The following functional areas have been covered in the O2 ERP Solution for Hitech:
• Purchase: It takes care of the processes like requisition, requisition shortclose, Purchase Order new, PO Amendment and PO shortclose. Generation of PO Document and other related documents are handled here.
• Stores: Transactions related to Raw Material i.e. items are taken care of here. Indent generation from different departments and Issue to them from indents and Issue entry. Indent can be amended and shotclosed. GRN against PO, Direct Cash GRN and Open GRN entry are entered here. Apart from it GRN Return (Excisable & Non-Excisable), Stock transfer between sites, Stock adjustment, 57f4 challan entries also done here.
• Accounts: This module collects all the accounts entries from different modules and payment-receiving to be done against bills. Separate voucher entry, expense bill, debit-credit note are also handled from accounts module. All possible Reports and Documents are also provided.
• Production and Sales & Dispatch: From Sales order creation (Party PO) to dispatch process is handled in this module, all stock, excise and Account posting formalities are also covered. Commercial, Captive, Radiography, Differential, D3 Invoices and Sales return Invoice creation is possible.
• Excise: TR6 Challan, Duty adjustment and Modvat taken type of transaction entries can be done here. All type of excise reports RG1, Rg23a I & II, Rg23c I & II, PLA, RT12 etc are generated from this Module.
• Export Sales: It will take care of all pre-export and post-export activity of the company i.e. creation of packing list from selected SO, export invoices, Pattern charges invoices and Sample export invoices and Bank details entry. All types of Export documents can directly generated.
• Quality Control: All the raw material and Jobwork material quality check is being done using this module.

Softwares Used : Sybase PowerBuilder 7.0 as Front end tool and Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere 5.0 as RDBMS on Windows98/NT/2000 Server/clients.
